Wall prep · skim · paint

Hong Kong is humid — paint isn't just colour, it's your wall's protection layer. We commit to a full 7-step process, no shortcuts.

Paint types & where to use them

Emulsion
Living room, bedrooms, hallway main walls

Easy to clean, low odour, dries fast. Top brands: Nippon, Dulux, Benjamin Moore.

Anti-mould paint
Bathrooms, kitchens, external walls, near-window areas

Contains anti-mould agents; resists mildew spots for 5+ years.

Mineral paint
Nurseries, senior rooms, allergy-sensitive homes

Zero VOC, zero formaldehyde, highly breathable — higher price point.

Enamel / wood paint
Door frames, skirting, cabinetry, iron gates

Hard finish, smooth surface, resists scratches and repeated cleaning.

Decorative / micro-cement
Feature walls, entryways, shop photo spots

Stucco, Venetian, rammed-earth effects — requires master craftsmanship.

Primer
New skim, colour changes, moisture-proofing

Sealer coat. Skipping primer cuts the lifespan in half.

HK humidity · moisture-proofing essentials

  • 1. Strip peeling old paint down to the skim layer — never patch spots only, or the new paint will peel off with the old.
  • 2. Skim 2–3 times, letting each layer fully dry and sanding smooth in between.
  • 3. Apply a moisture-block or anti-mould primer to seal the wall's moisture pathways.
  • 4. At least two topcoats — light sand after the first before the second.
  • 5. Pause painting when humidity > 85% (spring/rainy season) to avoid blushing.

Standard process & timeline

  1. 01Protect furniture & floors, seal doors/windows (½ day)
  2. 02Strip old paint, remove mould stains (1–2 days)
  3. 03Skim & patch, 2–3 passes (2–3 days, wall-dependent)
  4. 04Full sanding & dust extraction (½–1 day)
  5. 05Moisture-block primer, 1 coat (½ day)
  6. 06Topcoat, 2 coats (1–2 days)
  7. 07Edge trim inspection & handover walk-through

A whole-flat repaint typically takes 4–7 working days, depending on area and wall condition.
